Going mobile: It’s Not Rocket Surgery! | Marketing Strategies | Marketing Plan | MadAddie Marketing

I know, I know, that is not the way the saying goes. It’s brain science. (Ha!).

Seriously, it’s just a little joke between my best friend and I when we come across people who state the obvious. It’s kind of like “mobile” marketing. Do we need to be told the future of mobile when it is something we practice regularly on a daily basis?

Let me explain...

The moment we get into our cars we are on the phone getting directions to our next appointment or picking up our kids. I think it’s pretty obvious that mobile is an intricate piece of the marketing strategy for any business owner, Chamber, school district, you name it. People are on the go, and the way they stay connected and updated is through their phone.

Mobile advertising, mobile optimization, mobile friendly we know the future is mobile, how could we not?

Mobile searches, texting, emailing, shopping, and downloading coupons we are looking down at our smartphones. Mobile helps us get caught up in our busy lives. So as I was saying a minute ago, it’s not "Rocket Surgery" to know that mobile is a key player in any marketing strategy. Any business owner would be crazy to ignore it.

So ask yourself, is your website mobile friendly? Should your advertising dollars be targeting mobile ads, or do you need an app for that? If you want your business noticed, make sure your marketing message shows up on your target audience’s mobile device.

Helpful tidbits to look for if a website isn't mobilefriendly:
• The content is wider than the screen: This requires users to scroll sidetoside to read the page. (I hate when this happens)

• The text is too small: This means the user must zoom to read text on the page. (Even more annoying)

• The links are too close together: On a smartphone, links should be easy to tap with your fingers this means that the links should be big enough and in natural location to tap. Most smartphone users hold their phone in their right hand and tap links with their thumb. (what about the lefty’s?)

• Responsive Design: will automatically adjust the width of the page on your device. (It may be time to seek professional help)

If all else fails and you’re not sure what you're supposed to be looking for simply use Google’s mobilefriendly tool. https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobilefri...

So what are you waiting for? If you’re not sure, contact me. I’ll be on my smartphone (not playing Pokemon Go!).
